Char-Lan District High School is nestled in the village of Williamstown, Ontario and is located across the street from our elementary feeder school, Williamstown Public School.
Students and their families enjoy the local arena across the street, local outdoor rink, club house, water park and baseball field beside the school. In 2023, a state of the art Geodesic Learning Lab was built on our property to enhance our Experimental Farm and Community Gardens Initiative. Char-Lan DHS has a track and three soccer fields on its beautiful property which are used extensively by the students and the community.
Char-Lan DHS is rooted in tradition and everything Celtic. Williamstown High School was founded in 1900 when Sir Wilfred Laurier was Prime Minister, Canada had a population of five million and horses were the main means of transportation. The current Char-Lan DHS was open in 1954. So much has changed in Canada and the world, but Char-Lan DHS continues to respect the past while building a 21st century learning attitude: Learning, Leading, Embracing Innovation.
We are committed to providing our students with real-world, experiential learning opportunities which will prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
We offer CO-OP education and two Specialist High Skills Majors – one in Health and Wellness and one in Agriculture. Our technology programs include Transportation, Construction and Hospitality. Our Physical Education programs include Personal Fitness and our sports teams are highly competitive.
French Immersion is available in all grades and many graduate with a French Immersion Certificate. Char-Lan is proud of its EQAO testing results, its high graduation rates and the quality of character its students and staff possess.
We are
Small enough to know you – Large enough to serve you!!
